Peptides and hair growth
Why Burgeon Puts Peptides on the Scalp — Not in the Capsule
Peptides are everywhere right now. But when it comes to hair, there’s a question we think matters more than simply asking whether a product contains peptides: where are those peptides being delivered?
At Burgeon, we made a deliberate decision.
Our peptides go directly onto the scalp.
They are not included in our daily capsules.
And there’s a reason for that.
Hair Growth Is an Inside-and-Outside Job
For years, the hair-growth category has largely been dominated by one idea: swallow a collection of ingredients and hope everything your hair needs eventually reaches the follicle.
But hair biology is more complicated than that.
Your hair follicle is part of a living system. What happens internally matters — nutrition, digestion, nutrient availability and overall health all play a role. But the scalp itself also has its own environment.
That is why Burgeon was never designed to be simply another hair vitamin.
We built a two-part ritual with two very different jobs:
Burgeon Capsules — support from within.
Burgeon Scalp Peptide Serum — targeted care directly at the scalp.
Instead of trying to cram every fashionable ingredient into one capsule, we asked a different question:
Where does each ingredient make the most sense?
And peptides are a perfect example.
What Happens When You Swallow a Peptide?
When something is taken orally, it doesn’t magically travel straight to your hair follicle.
It enters the gastrointestinal system.
Peptides taken orally face digestive enzymes, changing pH levels, the intestinal barrier and other factors that can affect whether particular peptides remain intact and how much ultimately becomes bioavailable. Researchers continue to study these challenges because oral peptide absorption can be complex and highly dependent on the particular peptide and delivery system.
And even after an orally consumed substance is absorbed, it enters systemic circulation. It isn’t being applied specifically to the scalp simply because the intended beauty benefit happens to be hair.
That distinction matters to us.
It is why we don’t formulate Burgeon by chasing whatever ingredient happens to be trending in the supplement aisle.
We formulate according to the job we want an ingredient to do.
So Why Put Peptides Directly on the Scalp?
Because that’s where we’re using them.
Our Scalp Peptide Serum is a topical treatment. You part the hair, apply it to the scalp and put the formula directly into the environment surrounding the follicles.
No digestive journey.
No expectation that an orally consumed peptide somehow knows you’re taking it because you want better hair.
Instead, Burgeon uses peptides as part of a formulation designed specifically for the scalp.
That’s a fundamentally different strategy.
And it’s why we believe the conversation shouldn’t simply be:
“Does your hair product contain peptides?”
It should be:
“What peptides are being used, how are they being delivered, and what is the formula actually designed to do?”
And This Is Where the Gut Comes Into the Burgeon Story
The other half of our philosophy happens internally.
You can consume an extraordinary ingredient list, but consumption and absorption are not the same thing.
The gastrointestinal tract is responsible for breaking down and absorbing nutrients. Certain gastrointestinal disorders and inflammatory diseases can interfere with normal digestion or absorption and contribute to micronutrient deficiencies.
That doesn’t mean everyone with thinning hair has “gut inflammation,” and it doesn’t mean inflammation automatically prevents a hair supplement from working.
It means something much more important:
What you swallow is only part of the story.
Your body still has to digest it, absorb it and make those nutrients available.
This principle helped shape Burgeon’s inside-out philosophy from the beginning.
Two Formulas. Two Different Jobs.
Our capsules aren’t trying to be our serum.
And our serum isn’t trying to be our capsules.
That’s intentional.
From the inside, Burgeon Capsules are formulated as nutritional support for the systems behind healthy hair.
From the outside, Burgeon Scalp Peptide Serum delivers its topical formula directly to the scalp.
We don’t need to put peptides in the capsule simply so we can put the word PEPTIDES on another label.
We’d rather put ingredients where we believe they make the most sense within the Burgeon ritual.
Because more ingredients aren’t necessarily smarter formulation.
Better strategy is.
Your Hair Doesn’t Live in a Capsule
This is the part of hair care that gets forgotten.
The hair you brush, curl, straighten and style is the visible result.
But the follicle sits beneath the surface of the scalp.
So while beautiful hair care will always matter, Burgeon starts earlier in the conversation.
We think about the body behind the hair and the scalp beneath the hair.
That is the reason Burgeon is a system rather than a single product.
We support from within.
We target the scalp from the outside.
And when we use peptides, we put them where we actually want them: directly onto the scalp.
The Burgeon Difference
Hair thinning is complicated.
There isn’t one ingredient, one vitamin or one fashionable buzzword that explains every person’s hair.
That’s precisely why Burgeon takes a different approach.
Inside + outside.
Nutrition + scalp care.
Capsules + topical peptides.
Each has its own job.
Because the future of hair care isn’t about throwing more ingredients into a pill.
It’s about understanding where they belong.
